4. The People Behind the Orders
More than just customers.
When I started awburn, I was mostly focused on making candles. Finding the perfect fragrances, learning how to make a good product, designing labels, and figuring out how to actually run a business.
What I didn't expect was the people I'd meet along the way.
Over the past several months, something really special has happened. Names that once appeared as just another order notification have slowly become familiar. People I recognize, people I look forward to chatting with, and people who genuinely seem excited about what I'm creating.
Especially since I started going live on TikTok.
What began as a way to share my little candle business has turned into this really fun community of people who come hang out, chat about absolutely anything, make me laugh, and occasionally buy a candle or two.
And sometimes, people show up just to say hello. I love that.
I've gotten to know little things about people, hear their stories, and share parts of my own life that I probably never would've shared if I hadn't started awburn.
It's funny because when you think about running a business, you usually think about sales, numbers, inventory, and all that stuff. And sure, those things are important. But lately, I've realized that one of my favourite parts of doing this has absolutely nothing to do with candles.
It's the people.
Every time I recognize a name on an order, it makes me smile. Knowing that someone enjoyed something I made enough to come back and support me again is a pretty incredible feeling.
I know awburn is still a tiny business in the grand scheme of things, but the little community forming around it feels like something much bigger.
So whether you've purchased a candle, shared a video, joined a livestream, left a kind comment, or simply stopped by to say hello, I hope you know how much I appreciate you.
You're not just supporting a small business. You're helping me build something that I genuinely love waking up every day to work on.
And I'm really glad you're here.
With love,
Andrew
